Truly Simple Cycle: A Calm, Private Period Tracker

Coming Soon to the App Store

About the App

Truly Simple Cycle is a private period tracker for iPhone and iPad. Log a period in one tap, see when the next one is likely, and keep a quiet record of how each day went. Everything stays on your device (and in Apple Health, if you choose). There’s no account, no cloud, no ads, and no subscription.

Most period apps are funded by ads, data, or a monthly fee, and they ask a lot of questions to get there. This one does the core job and stops: a clear calendar, predictions that admit when they’re uncertain, a daily rating that can show whether harder days tend to come before your period, and a summary you can hand to a doctor. Your cycle is yours, so the app never sends it anywhere.

Who It’s For

  • Anyone who wants their cycle data kept private: No account, no server, and nothing to hand over, because the developer never has it. A lock and a blank app-switcher preview keep it private on the device, too.
  • People with irregular cycles: Predictions show a range when your cycles vary, and the app says so plainly rather than pretending to be exact.
  • Anyone whose mood shifts before a period: Rate each day in a tap. After two cycles, the app shows whether harder days tend to start before your period and when they ease, from your own ratings.
  • Anyone preparing for a doctor’s appointment: The appointment summary turns six cycles into one clear PDF, free.

Features

  • One-tap logging: “Period started” and “Period ended” on the home screen. Tap any day on the calendar to add or change details.
  • A calendar you can read at a glance: Period days are filled, predicted days are outlined, and logged days carry a small dot, so states never depend on color alone.
  • Honest predictions: Based on the median of your last six cycles, shown as a range when your cycles vary.
  • Everything about a day: Flow (spotting, light, medium, heavy), 12 common symptoms, 8 moods, tags, and notes. Add your own symptoms, moods, and tags.
  • How’s today? Rate each day from Very hard to Great in one tap.
  • Before your period: From your ratings, Stats shows whether harder days tend to start before your period, about when, and when they ease, plus the symptoms and moods that come up most in those weeks. An optional reminder gives you a heads-up before those days.
  • Support on hard days: When you rate a day Very hard, the app offers links to information about premenstrual mood changes and to crisis lines, quietly, without getting in the way.
  • Stats that stay simple: Your typical cycle and period length with ranges, and a chart of cycle length over time.
  • Appointment summary: A PDF of your last six cycles, symptoms, daily ratings around each period, and notes, ready to print or share with a doctor. Free.
  • Apple Health: Periods and spotting sync both ways, and your daily rating is saved as mood. History from Apple’s Cycle Tracking or another app comes in automatically.
  • Discreet reminders: A heads-up before your period, a nudge to log on the predicted day, a heads-up before harder days, and an optional daily reminder. Notifications never show cycle details.
  • Privacy lock: Require Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to open the app. The app-switcher preview always shows a plain screen.
  • Your data, your way: Export a CSV or a full JSON backup, restore from a backup, or import a spreadsheet from another app. Delete everything with one button.
  • Quick to reach: A Log Today control for Control Center, the Lock Screen, or the Action button, plus a Siri shortcut.
  • Native and accessible: Built for iPhone and iPad with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and light and dark modes.
  • Pay once, keep forever: Every feature is free, with two custom symptoms, moods, or tags. Unlock unlimited custom items with a one-time, lifetime in-app purchase, shared with your family. No subscriptions, no ads, no hidden fees.

How Predictions Work

  1. Log two periods. Predictions start once the app has a full cycle to measure.
  2. The app takes the median of your last six cycles, so one unusually long or short month doesn’t pull the estimate off course.
  3. When your cycles vary, you see a range of likely days on the calendar instead of a single date, and the app tells you plainly when predictions are rough for now.
  4. Every new period updates the estimate. Nothing is sent anywhere to calculate it; it all happens on your device.

Tips & More Info

  • Rate most days for a couple of cycles and the Before Your Period card on Stats starts to show a pattern, if there is one. It only describes your own ratings, and it says so when there’s no consistent change.
  • Switching from another app? If it saved to Apple Health, turn on Apple Health in Settings and your history comes in. Otherwise, export a spreadsheet from your old app and use Import from a Spreadsheet. Any CSV with a date column and a flow or period column works.
  • The fertile-window estimate is off by default. You can turn it on in Settings, but calendar-based estimates aren’t reliable for preventing pregnancy, so please don’t use them as birth control.
  • Add Log Today to Control Center or your Action button to log without hunting for the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the app free?
Yes. Logging, predictions, the calendar, stats, the appointment summary, Apple Health, reminders, the app lock, and every export are free. Pro is a one-time $4.99 purchase that adds unlimited custom symptoms, moods, and tags (two are free), shared with your family. There’s no subscription.
When will it be available?
Soon. The app is finishing up App Store review, and this page will link to it on the App Store as soon as it’s live.
Where is my cycle data stored?
On your iPhone or iPad. There’s no account, no server, and no cloud copy that I can see. If you turn on Apple Health, your periods and daily mood are also kept in Apple Health, which Apple encrypts end to end and syncs across your own devices. Symptoms, notes, and tags stay on the device.
How does it predict my next period?
It uses the median length of your last six cycles, so one unusual month doesn’t throw it off. When your cycles vary, it shows a range of likely days instead of a single date, and it says plainly when predictions are rough. Predictions start after your second logged period.
Can I use it to prevent pregnancy?
No. The optional fertile-window estimate is off by default and is based only on your cycle history. Calendar estimates aren’t reliable for preventing pregnancy, so please don’t use them as birth control.
Does it work with Apple Health?
Yes, if you turn it on. Periods and spotting go both ways, so history already in Apple Health, from Cycle Tracking or another app, comes in too. Your daily rating is saved as mood. Symptoms, notes, and tags stay in the app.
Can I bring my history from another period app?
Yes. If your old app saves to Apple Health, turn on Apple Health and your history comes in. You can also import a spreadsheet (CSV) with a date column and a flow or period column. Imported days only fill gaps; nothing you’ve logged is overwritten.
What’s in the appointment summary?
A PDF of your last six cycles: start dates, cycle and period lengths, heaviest flow, spotting between periods, your typical cycle and period with ranges, how often each symptom and mood came up, your daily ratings around each period, and your notes. It’s free.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later. One purchase covers both.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Reach out via one of the options on the contact page.

Privacy Policy

The short version: Truly Simple Cycle doesn’t collect any data. Your cycle information stays on your device, and the developer never sees it.

  • What the app stores: The days, flow, symptoms, moods, tags, notes, and daily ratings you log, and your settings. They’re stored on your iPhone or iPad only. There’s no account and no server.
  • Apple Health (optional, off by default): If you turn it on, the app reads and writes menstrual flow and spotting, and writes your daily rating as mood (State of Mind). This data is handled by Apple Health under Apple’s privacy terms. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with anyone, and turning Apple Health off stops all reading and writing.
  • No iCloud, no tracking: The app doesn’t use iCloud, analytics, advertising, or any third-party code, and it doesn’t make network requests except to the App Store for the optional purchase.
  • Notifications: Reminders are created on your device and show only short, neutral text, never cycle details.
  • Your control: Export your data any time as CSV or a JSON backup. Delete All Data in Settings removes everything from the device; anything already in Apple Health stays there until you remove it in the Health app.
  • Questions: Reach out via the contact page.
