About the Extension

With PopClip running, select however much text you like from any app (or web page or document) and select the Link Lasso icon from the PopClip menu.

LinkLasso will find all the URLs contained in that text, both linked (the URLs embedded in the test as hyperlinks) and written out (so not clickable links, just text-based web addresses).

Each URL it finds will be opened in your default web browser in a new tab (so if there are five links in the text you select, you will have five new tabs).

Setup

  1. Get PopClip (it's a phenomenal app that I use a million times a day, every day).
  2. Download the LinkLasso extension from Github.
  3. Double-click the LinkLasso.popclipext.zip file to unzip it, then click the LinkLasso.popclipext file. You'll see a prompt from PopClip saying it's unsigned, click "Install Link Lasso" if you'd like to take fate into your own hands (and trust I'm not trying to hack you in a super-niche manner) and install the extension. I'll see about getting the extension in the official PopClip directory, at which point it'll be signed and that prompt will no longer appear.
  4. Now when you highlight text, you'll see the little 'lasso around a chain link' icon on your PopClip menu. Click that to use the extension.
